The Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia's Ministry Of Transport And Logistic Services was responsible for organising the event. The exhibition featured more than 250 international companies and over 200 speakers, including top-level executives, policymakers, and manufacturing companies.

The conference opened on 19 October with an official ceremony attended by the Saudi Arabian Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, His Excellency Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and representatives of the leading regional railway organisations. Delegations from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Syria, Egypt and South Africa delivered presentations on the first day, as did top managers of international companies and equipment suppliers.

The main topics of discussion included:

  • modernisation of railway infrastructure;
  • development of high-speed rail services;
  • digitalisation of transportation;
  • localisation of manufacturing in the railway sector;
  • formation of a sustainable transport and logistics ecosystem.

Particular attention was given to the Saudi Landbridge Project, the largest railway corridor which will connect the east and west of the Kingdom, becoming a key element in the development of Saudi Arabian transport and logistics.

OKOndt GROUP’s Contribution to Railway Safety

Following its successful participation in the Mobility Live Saudi 2024 exhibition, which was held in Riyadh alongside Saudi Rail 2024, OKOndt GROUP presented a wide range of non-destructive testing (NDT) systems. These systems are designed to enhance the safety, efficiency and reliability of railway maintenance.

At its stand, the company presented ultrasonic and eddy current testing systems and instruments for inspecting rails, welded joints, and rolling stock components.

Among the company’s key exhibits were:

  • The UDS2-77 ultrasonic rail flaw detector, which is equipped with a search wheel probes (SWP) that provides stable coupling with the rail surface;
  • The OKOSCAN 73HS high-speed rail inspection System, which enables continuous automated rail inspection.
  • The USR-01 rail weld inspection kit, which includes the SONOCON BL flaw detector, provides a high-quality evaluation of welded joints in accordance with international standards.
  • The ETS2-73 and ETS2-77 eddy current flaw detectors, which are designed to detect surface and near-surface rail defects.

Demonstrations and technical characteristics

During the event, OKOndt GROUP specialists provided a detailed presentation of the capabilities of the UDS2-77 ultrasonic rail flaw detector. This device is equipped with search wheels containing immersion ultrasonic probes (SWP). The key advantages noted were:

  • high stability of acoustic coupling;
  • clear visualisation of defect signals;
  • rapid localisation of defects in installed rails.

Visitors were also given an introduction to the OKOSCAN 73HS, a high-speed rail inspection System that ensures effective defect detection in real time at travel speeds of up to 40 km/h. This generated particular interest among representatives of railway administrations, metro systems and track infrastructure maintenance companies.

OKOndt GROUP specialists also held consultations, providing detailed explanations of how the presented equipment can be used to address various tasks and the ways in which its implementation contributes to improving railway safety.
