In May 2025, OKOndt GROUP delivered its UDS2-77 Ultrasonic Flaw Detector to a customer in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), along with practical training on how to operate it. During the training, the customer’s NDT (non-destructive testing) specialists acquired the necessary skills to confidently operate the device, mastering everything from calibration procedures to ultrasonic rail testing on a real railway.

Theoretical Module of the UDS2-77 Training
The training commenced with a theoretical module, where participants were introduced to OKOndt GROUP’s extensive experience in NDT technologies. The team received a detailed technical overview of the UDS2-77 ultrasonic single rail flaw detector, exploring its core functions, calibration techniques, software interface, and routine maintenance.
Practical Session: Rail Testing Using the UDS2-77
After the theory sessions, the group of trainees moved on to practical exercises. They practised calibrating the UDS2-77 on a reference rail and identifying defects on a sample rail. They then moved on to live railway lines, where they conducted ultrasonic testing of rails and switches under real operational conditions, including at night.
The final stage involved analysing the data using OKOndt GROUP's integrated PC software. Participants learnt how to process and interpret inspection results, practising the full functional capabilities of the UDS2-77 ultrasonic flaw detector.
Training Outcomes and Additional Support
This training initiative demonstrated OKOndt GROUP’s commitment to providing cutting-edge NDT equipment and comprehensive rail testing expertise. It empowers customers of rail flaw detectors to improve the efficiency of rail inspections.
Going forward, OKOndt GROUP will provide remote support for the operation of the UDS2-77, helping the customer’s NDT specialists learn to use the equipment confidently and independently.
